Mitzvah of Sitting in the Sukkah

(42) You shall dwell in Sukkot seven days; all that are home-born in Israel shall dwell in Sukkot;

(43) that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am Hashem your G-d.

Rashi

Rashi explains in Pasuk 43 that the "Sukkot" we remember from when we left Mitzrayim were the ענני הכבוד. They were the miraculous "clouds of glory" that surrounded B'nei Yisrael in the Desert, from bad weather, animals, enemies, etc.
  • What are we remembering when we sit in the Sukkah? (What should we be thinking of?)
  • Why is the word Sukkot translated differently in the two Psukim?
