(26) And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. They shall rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the cattle, the whole earth, and all the creeping things that creep on earth.” (27) And God created man in God's image, in the image of God God created him; male and female God created them.
(7) Then Adonai God formed the person of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the person became a living being.
I thankfully acknowledge You, Adonai, who created the human body with wisdom, and created within it openings & openings and closings & closings. It is revealed and known to all that if even one organ were to open or one passageway were to close, it would be physically impossible to exist and stand before You. I thankfully acknowledge You, God, Healer of all flesh, Source of wondrous creations.
(14) He would say: Beloved is the person, since s/he is created in the Image. It's actually an even deeper love, for it is revealed to the person that s/he is created in the Image, as it says (Genesis 9:6): "for in God's image God made the Adam."
Also, the human was created to show the greatness of the Holy Blessed One for if a person strikes many coins from one mold, they all resemble one another, but the Ruling Power, the Holy Blessed One, made each person in the image of Adam, and yet not one of them resembles his fellow.
Rav Yeremiah ben Elazar said, ‘When the Holy Blessed One created Adam, God created him androgynous, for it is written, ‘male and female he created them,' (Gen. 1:27) ‘And God called their name Adam' (Gen. 5:2).
Rabbi Shmuel ben Nachman said, ‘When God created Adam, God created him double-faced. Then God split him and made him of two backs, one back on this side and one back on the other side.’”
"Why are we forbidden to make images of God? It is not because God is beyond all images, so that no image could possibly depict God. If that were the case, images would merely be harmless. God has and image, and that is you. You may not make the image of God because you are the image of God. The only medium in which you can make God's image is the medium of your entire life, and that is precisely what we are commanded to do. Everything you do, everything you say, each moment and the way you use it are all part of the way you build God's image. To take anything less than a full, living human being - like canvas or a piece of marble - and call it the image of God would be to diminish God, to lessen God's image.
