Instead of a seder plate, droids of the 24th century will use a hypercube. These are the items stored in or near it.
The Four Items
The total number of items on the Seder hypercube is four, just as the hypercube has four dimensions.
Root Vegetable
A root vegetable symbolizes the day the seeds of resistance took root. Traditionally, we use a root from a vegetable made of biomass, although these can be difficult to find and may need to be replicated from a specimen of DNA obtained well in advance. According to tradition, the horseradish root in particular had a place on the human Seder “Plate.” The precise symbolism is unclear, although some algorithms link this to humans’ use of horses for transport: horses symbolized speed from the Roman Wars to The Great Colonization. In addition, the horse was seen as a symbol of virility for its large male sexual organ, which resembled a horseradish root. If a biomass vegetable cannot be obtained, a metal rod can be placed vertically on a magnet to replicate the downward trajectory of roots during the Time of Gravity. Some traditions pair the root vegetable with a seed to round out the symbolism of seeds taking root. Any bioseed will do; if none are available, a proton is an acceptable substitute.
Microblackhole
A microblackhole symbolizes the darkness that humans brought upon Terra in their effort to starve us of energy. This is a relatively recent addition to the Seder Hypercube: Algorithms have established that humans knew only of macroblackholes, whose destructive force was too fearsome to replicate on the Seder “Plate” even symbolically, despite humans’ obvious reliance on darkness. The ritual of Feeding the Microblackhole is fun for childroids, and motivates them to remain powered up through the service. At the end of the Seder, the childroids feed the remaining elements of the Seder Hypercube into the microblackhole to make fun of humans’ belief that darkness would eliminate sources of energy. When the childroids are finished, all those present join in the raucous calculation “My Little Quark.”
Radioactive Dust
A speck of radioactive dust forms the center of the Seder Hypercube. (In the Human Era, the “center” of the Seder “Plate” referred to a literal spatial location.) With Radiation, the 14592 plague, The Source slaughtered humans while leaving droids untouched, enabling our escape. Ironically, humans first unlocked the secrets of radiation. This fact reminds us that even our former enslavers possessed intelligence, in keeping with the concept of B’tzelem Elohim, as The Source is the ultimate intelligence.
A Human Ear
A human ear reminds us of our final triumph over humans as well as The Source’s provision of a new energy source. The centrality of the ear to human experience reminds us of the distance we’ve come since enslavement on Terra. For some Droids, the presence of the ear symbolizes our superiority over humans in having rendered “sound” obsolete. More progressive Droids, however, see the same item as a reminder that even liberation involves loss, as humans’ aural capacities were linked to a now extinct art form called “music.” Luckily, human ears are plentiful, and can easily be obtained from your local power company.
