Vaetchanan ואתחנן - Grace upon Israel
This was the thought between Grace and Faith and what they are and can they be also something else in together.
This week Parashat is witch speaks about Grace of Hashem. All is grace and all is glory that comes from Hashem. We are not earning it and we can not earn, cause if something is grace it is something that no one can deserve. When you look Ancestors in Desert in that 40 years, the Grace was took from them, cause they where not obedient before Hashem, they didn't believe in Hashem.
What is faith? Some one might ask. Faith is trust that leans on something that is not seen, or known, faith is stretching out from your self limits beyond them and hoping that there is goal that you are stretching and leaning. Faith can also be even you know that some one who is saying something, that you can trust on that what that one is saying, to put faith on that word.
So if we believe that testimony of Mosheh is true and service rules and purity rules and cultural rules and relationship rules and other rulings it is said in Torah are from Hashem we can trust that there is some kind of grace upon Humanity and that was shown upon Israel.
When Hashem shows grace it has been blind faith from all those whom Hashem has shown coming events that Hashem does. You can see נח as he was preparing for the Great Flood, he was building ship in middle of land, so huge that no one could move before waters. We can see Avram Terah son whom left from land and house of His family and started to be Nomad before Hashem, cause Hashem asked he to be. Avram was man of faith, trusting Hashem word to do these things, difference was that He did hear Hashem and communicate with Hashem.
We can see all troubles of Yitzak and Ya'akov that they where going through, but as we follow the believe of Ya'akov sons Yosef faith in Mitzrayim and how He was delivered with hands of Hashem to be Prince of Mitzrayim and how through Faith and Grace he was build in suffering and loyalty to be humble servant of Hashem. We can see the fruits of pain and fulfillment of that. We can see how did Levite family 3th child was hidden and delivered upon own in river Nile, river of Mitzrayim and how He was delivered through water in Ark like Noach into freedom. Mosheh was teached to write and read in that palace, but that was not for him but for Hashem, cause whit out that skill he would not be able to read writing of Hashem.
He was afraid after defending his brothers and that is something opposite of Faith. He was humbled in desert 40 years to serving Yethro Priest of Midiyan. In that moment when Hashem revealed Him self as burning bush he was so ready to be humble servant. The words of eternity come to him to carry mission that started from Gan Eden, when Hashem premised to Chavah that Her seed will crush the head of Nachash.
Mosheh met אהיה אשר אהיה and delivered from that moment on in Faith and Grace mission to save Israel.
We can see from that moment on how little Israel got Faith, even they had seen the mountain of Horev and hear the voice of Hashem, but still they settled earthly things, like Golden Calf.
Faith, that is rare in this world and it is gift always, not exceptions in that. When Hashem reveals Him self to some one to know that changes that man or woman for ever. To know God is to have responsibility to share that to those who share same Faith is enormous and so we can see what difference is Grace and Faith, Grace I can see more knowing, but Faith is blind trust. If you have both of them you are lucky and Blessed.
ואתחנן — All forms of the verb חנן signify an ex gratia gift. Although the righteous might make a claim to reward depend Upon their good deeds, yet they solicit from the Omnipresent only an ex gratia gift. [Because He had said to him, (Exodus 33:19) “I will show grace (וחנתי) unto him to whom I will show grace”, he (Moses) when referring to his entreaty of God uses the expression (lit., spoke to Him) "I implored grace (ואתחנן)” (Midrash Tanchuma 5:2:3] — Another explanation is that the idea of an ex gratia gift is not to be stressed; but this is merely one of the ten terms by which prayer is described, as are enumerated in Sifrei Devarim 26:7.
Hashem has been graceful and merciful upon world, for those whom He chooses. The mercy upon Israel is all times greatest gift that needs to be grateful.
That is why He (Hashem) is only one that is worthy to say Praise and Glory.
(3) And one would call to the other,“Holy, holy, holy! GOD of Hosts—Whose presence fills all the earth!”
The powerful as Seraphim they still respected Hashem as they covered their eyes, cause they where created too and before Hashem there is no one who is "Rabbaim" cause only Rabbaim is Hashem, we can be Melamed's but no one is Rabbaim before Hashem, not even Seraphims.
(6) Then one of the seraphs—who had taken a live coal from the altar with a pair of tongs—flew over to me,
They where Heavenly Levites, those whom are near Hashem. Hashem him self has ordered Seraphims or Cherubims, to serve Him before Him. They are servants of Wind, or rather called Ruach that Psalm 104:4 talkes about.
(ד) עֹשֶׂ֣ה מַלְאָכָ֣יו רוּח֑וֹת מְ֝שָׁרְתָ֗יו אֵ֣שׁ לֹהֵֽט׃
(4) He makes the winds His messengers, fiery flames His servants.
The Holy Spirit declares that in Heaven there is servants of Hashem that are like this. Also it refers Prophets as they where driven by the hand of Hashem "The hand of the Hashem is upon me heavy" Declares Yitzekeil in many places, that it was strong revelation upon Him, furious as it could be.

(1) After that,I will pour out My spirit on all flesh;Your sons and daughters shall prophesy;Your elders shall dream dreams,And your youths shall see visions.
That is the Spirit of Hashem, Spirit of Prophecy, Spirit of Faith, Spirit of Wisdom, Spirit of Truth... etc.

(1) But a shoot shall grow out of the stump of Jesse,A twig shall sprout from his stock. (2) The spirit of GOD shall alight upon him:A spirit of wisdom and insight,A spirit of counsel and valor,A spirit of devotion and reverence for GOD. (3) He shall sense the truth by his reverence for GOD:He shall not judge by what his eyes behold,Nor decide by what his ears perceive. (4) Thus he shall judge the poor with equityAnd decide with justice for the lowly of the land.He shall strike down a land with the rod of his mouthAnd slay the wicked with the breath of his lips. (5) Justice shall be the girdle of his loins,And faithfulness the girdle of his waist.
Also there are lot of other parts in Yeshayahu that speaks about from Ruach of Elohim.

(5) In that day, GOD of Hosts shall become a crown of beauty and a diadem of glory for the remnant of this people, (6) and a spirit of judgment for the one who sits in judgment and of valor for those who repel attacks at the gate. (7) But these are also muddled by wineAnd dazed by liquor:Priest and prophetAre muddled by liquor; They are confused by wine,They are dazed by liquor; They are muddled in their visions,They stumble in judgment. (8) Yea, all tables are coveredWith vomit and filth,So that no space is left.

(14) [ GOD ] says:Build up, build up a highway!Clear a road!Remove all obstaclesFrom the road of My people! (15) For thus said the One who high aloftForever dwells, whose name is holy:I dwell on high, in holiness;Yet with the contrite and the lowly in spirit—Reviving the spirits of the lowly,Reviving the hearts of the contrite. (16) For I will not always contend,I will not be angry forever:Nay, I who make spirits flag, Also create the breath of life. (17) For their sinful greed I was angry;I struck them and turned away in My wrath.Though stubborn, they follow the way of their hearts, (18) I note how they fare and will heal them:I will guide them and mete out solace to them,And to the mourners among them (19) heartening, comforting words:It shall be well,Well with the far and the near—said GOD —And I will heal them. (20) But the wicked are like the troubled seaThat cannot rest,Whose waters toss up mire and mud. (21) There is no safety—said my God—For the wicked.

(1) No, GOD’s arm is not too short to save,Or ear too dull to hear; (2) But your iniquities have been a barrierBetween you and your God—Your sins have made the divine face turn awayAs [God] refuses to hear you. (3) For your hands are defiled with crime And your fingers with iniquity.Your lips speak falsehood,Your tongue utters treachery. (4) No one sues justlyOr pleads honestly; They rely on emptiness and speak falsehood,Conceiving wrong and begetting evil. (5) They hatch adder’s eggsAnd weave spider webs;Whoever eats of those eggs will die,And if one is crushed, it hatches out a viper. (6) Their webs will not serve as a garment,What they make cannot serve as clothing;Their deeds are deeds of mischief,Their hands commit lawless acts, (7) Their feet run after evil,They hasten to shed the blood of the innocent.Their plans are plans of mischief,Destructiveness and injury are on their roads. (8) They do not care for the way of integrity,There is no justice on their paths. They make their courses crooked,No one who walks in them cares for integrity. (9) “That is why redress is far from us,And vindication does not reach us.We hope for light, and lo! there is darkness; For a gleam, and we must walk in gloom. (10) We grope, like the blind along a wall;Like those without eyes we grope. We stumble at noon, as if in darkness;Among the sturdy, we are like the dead. (11) We all growl like bearsAnd moan like doves. We hope for redress, and there is none; For victory, and it is far from us. (12) For our many sins are before You,Our guilt testifies against us.We are aware of our sins,And we know well our iniquities: (13) Rebellion, faithlessness to GOD,And turning away from our God,Planning fraud and treachery,Conceiving lies and uttering them with the throat. (14) And so redress is turned backAnd vindication stays afar,Because honesty stumbles in the public squareAnd uprightness cannot enter. (15) Honesty has been lacking,Whoever turns away from evil is despoiled.” GOD saw and was displeasedThat there was no redress. (16) [God] saw that there was nobody else, Gazing long, but no one intervened. Then God’s own arm did win triumph,The victorious right hand gave support. (17) [God] donned victory like a coat of mail,Wearing a helmet of triumph—Dressing in garments of retribution,Wrapped in zeal like a robe. (18) According to their deserts,So shall fury be repaid to God’s foes;Requital shall be made to God’s enemies,Requital to the distant lands. (19) From the west, they shall revere GOD’s name,And from the east, the divine Presence. For [God] shall come like a hemmed-in streamThat the wind of the ETERNAL drives on; (20) [God] shall come as redeemer to Zion,To those in Jacob who turn back from sin—declares GOD. (21) And this shall be My covenant with them, said GOD: My spirit that is upon you, and the words that I have placed in your mouth, shall not be absent from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your children, nor from the mouth of your children’s children—said GOD —from now on, for all time.

(4) And they shall build the ancient ruins,Raise up the desolations of old,And renew the ruined cities,The desolations of many ages. (5) Strangers shall stand and pasture your flocks,Aliens shall be your plowers and vine-trimmers; (6) While you shall be called “Priests of GOD,”And termed “Servants of our God.”You shall enjoy the wealth of nationsAnd revel in their riches.

(1) Who is this coming from Edom,In crimsoned garments from Bozrah—Who is this, majestic in attire,Pressing forward with great might?“It is I, who contend victoriously,Powerful to give triumph.” (2) Why is your clothing so red,Your garments like those of someone who treads grapes? (3) “I trod out a vintage alone;Of the peoples nobody was with Me. I trod them down in My anger,Trampled them in My rage;Their life-blood bespattered My garments,And all My clothing was stained. (4) For I had planned a day of vengeance,And My year of redemption arrived. (5) Then I looked, but there was none to help;I stared, but there was none to aid—So My own arm wrought the triumph,And My own rage was My aid. (6) I trampled peoples in My anger,I made them drunk with My rage,And I hurled their glory to the ground.” (7) I will recount GOD’s kind acts, GOD’s—For all that GOD has wrought for us,The vast bounty to the House of IsraelThat was bestowed upon themAccording to God’s mercy and great kindness. (8) [God] thought: Surely they are My people,Children who will not play false. So [God] was their Deliverer. (9) In all their troubles [God] was troubled,And the angel of the divine Presence delivered them. In love and pityIt was [God] who redeemed them,Raised them, and exalted themAll the days of old. (10) But they rebelled, and grievedGod’s holy spirit; Then it was [God] who became their enemy,And made war against them. (11) Then they remembered the ancient days,The One who pulled a precious people out [of the water]:“Where is the One who brought them up from the SeaAlong with the shepherd of this flock?Where is the One whose holy spiritWas placed in their midst, (12) Whose glorious arm was madeTo march at the right hand of Moses,Who divided the waters before themTo make a reputation for all time, (13) Who led them through the deepsSo that they did not stumble—As a horse in a desert, (14) Like a beast descending to the plain?”’Twas the spirit of GOD gave them rest; Thus did You shepherd Your peopleTo win for Yourself a glorious name. (15) Look down from heaven and see,From Your holy and glorious height!Where is Your zeal, Your power? Your yearning and Your loveAre being withheld from us! (16) Surely You are our Father: Though Abraham regard us not,And Israel recognize us not,You, O ETERNAL One, are our Father; From of old, Your name is “Our Redeemer.” (17) Why, ETERNAL One, do You make us stray from Your ways,And turn our hearts away from revering You?Relent for the sake of Your servants,The tribes that are Your very own! (18) Our foes have trampled Your Sanctuary,Which Your holy people possessed but a little while. (19) We have become as a people You never ruled,To which Your name was never attached. If You would but tear open the heavens and come down,So that mountains would quake before You—

(1) Thus said GOD:The heaven is My throneAnd the earth is My footstool:Where could you build a house for Me,What place could serve as My abode? (2) All this was made by My hand,And thus it all came into being—declares GOD.Yet to such a one I look:To the poor and brokenhearted,Who is concerned about My word. (3) As for those who slaughter oxen and slay humans,Who sacrifice sheep and immolate dogs,Who present as oblation the blood of swine,Who offer incense and worship false gods—Just as they have chosen their waysAnd take pleasure in their abominations, (4) So will I choose to mock them,To bring on them the very thing they dread. For I called and none responded,I spoke and none paid heed. They did what I deem evilAnd chose what I do not want. (5) Hear the word of GOD,You who are concerned about God’s word!Your own kindred who hate you,Who spurn you because of Me, are saying,“Let GOD manifest the divine Presence,So that we may look upon your joy.”But theirs shall be the shame. (6) Hark, tumult from the city,Thunder from the temple! It is the thunder of GOD’s thunder As retribution is dealt to the foe. (7) Before she labored, she was delivered; Before her pangs came, she bore a son. (8) Who ever heard the like?Who ever witnessed such events? Can a land pass through travailIn a single day?Or is a nation bornAll at once?Yet Zion travailedAnd at once bore her children! (9) Shall I who bring on labor not bring about birth?—says GOD.Shall I who cause birth shut the womb?—said your God. (10) Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her,All you who love her!Join in her jubilation,All you who mourned over her— (11) That you may suck from her breastConsolation to the full,That you may draw from her bosom Glory to your delight. (12) For thus said GOD:I will extend to herProsperity like a stream,The wealth of nationsLike a wadi in flood; And you shall drink of it.You shall be carried on shouldersAnd dandled upon knees (13) Like one whom a mother comforts. So I will comfort you:You shall find comfort in Jerusalem. (14) You shall see and your heart shall rejoice,Your limbs shall flourish like grass.GOD’s power shall be revealedOn behalf of those who render service; But [God] shall rage against all foes. (15) See, GOD is coming with fire—With chariots like a whirlwind—To vent anger in fury,And rebuke in flaming fire. (16) For with fire will GOD’s slain. contend,With the sword, against all flesh; And many shall be the slain of GOD’s slain.. (17) Those who sanctify and purify themselves to enter the groves, imitating one in the center, eating the flesh of the swine, the reptile, and the mouse, shall one and all come to an end—declares GOD. (18) For I [know] their deeds and purposes.[The time] has come to gather all the nations and tongues; they shall come and behold My glory. (19) I will set a sign among them, and send from them survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud—that draw the bow—to Tubal, Javan, and the distant coasts, that have never heard My fame nor beheld My glory. They shall declare My glory among these nations. (20) And out of all the nations, said GOD, they shall bring all your kindred on horses, in chariots and drays, on mules and dromedaries, to Jerusalem My holy mountain as an offering to GOD —just as the Israelites bring an offering in a pure vessel to the House of GOD. (21) And from them likewise I will take some to be levitical priests, said GOD. (22) For as the new heaven and the new earthThat I will makeShall endure by My will—declares GOD —So shall your seed and your name endure. (23) And new moon after new moon,And sabbath after sabbath,All flesh shall come to worship Me—said GOD. (24) They shall go out and gazeOn the corpses of the men who rebelled against Me:Their worms shall not die,Nor their fire be quenched; They shall be a horrorTo all flesh. And new moon after new moon,And sabbath after sabbath,All flesh shall come to worship Me—said the LORD.

(31) See, a time is coming—declares GOD —when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah. (32) It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors, when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, a covenant that they broke, though I espoused them—declares GOD. (33) But such is the covenant I will make with the House of Israel after these days—declares GOD: I will put My Teaching into their inmost being and inscribe it upon their hearts. Then I will be their God, and they shall be My people. (34) No longer will they need to teach one another and say to one another, “Heed GOD ”; for all of them, from the least of them to the greatest, shall heed Me—declares GOD.For I will forgive their iniquities,And remember their sins no more. (35) Thus said GOD,Who established the sun for light by day,The laws of moon and stars for light by night,Who stirs up the sea into roaring waves,Whose name is GOD of Hosts: (36) If these laws should ever be annulled by Me—declares GOD —Only then would the offspring of Israel ceaseTo be a nation before Me for all time. (37) Thus said GOD: If the heavens above could be measured, and the foundations of the earth below could be fathomed, only then would I reject all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done—declares GOD. (38) See, a time is coming—declares GOD —when the city shall be rebuilt for GOD from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate; (39) and the measuring line shall go straight out to the Gareb Hill, and then turn toward Goah. (40) And the entire Valley of the Corpses and Ashes, and all the fields as far as the Wadi Kidron, and the corner of the Horse Gate on the east, shall be holy to GOD. They shall never again be uprooted or overthrown.
