"You Shall be My People" in Yermiyahu and Yechezkel - Rabbanit Pesha Fischer
(23) But this is what I commanded them: Do My bidding, that I may be your God and you may be My people; walk only in the way that I enjoin upon you, that it may go well with you.
(11) For as a loincloth clings close to a man’s loins, so I brought close to Me the whole House of Israel and the whole House of Judah—declares GOD —that they might be My people, for fame, and praise, and splendor. But they would not obey.
(ז) וְנָֽתַתִּי֩ לָהֶ֨ם לֵ֜ב לָדַ֣עַת אֹתִ֗י כִּ֚י אֲנִ֣י ה' וְהָיוּ־לִ֣י לְעָ֔ם וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם לֵאלֹקִ֑ים כִּֽי־יָשֻׁ֥בוּ אֵלַ֖י בְּכׇל־לִבָּֽם׃ {ס}
(7) And I will give them the understanding to acknowledge Me, for I am GOD. And they shall be My people and I will be their God, when they turn back to Me with all their heart.
(כב) וִהְיִ֥יתֶם לִ֖י לְעָ֑ם וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י אֶהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם לֵאלֹקִֽים׃ {ס}
(22) You shall be My people,
And I will be your God.
(31) Tumult has reached the ends of the earth,
For GOD has a case against the nations,
And contends with all flesh—
Delivering the wicked to the sword
—declares GOD.
(32) Thus said GOD of Hosts:
Disaster goes forth
From nation to nation;
A great storm is unleashed
From the remotest parts of earth.
(20) that they may follow My laws and faithfully observe My rules. Then they shall be My people and I will be their God.
(יא) לְ֠מַ֠עַן לֹא־יִתְע֨וּ ע֤וֹד בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵֽאַחֲרַ֔י וְלֹא־יִטַּמְּא֥וּ ע֖וֹד בְּכׇל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֑ם וְהָיוּ־לִ֣י לְעָ֗ם וַאֲנִי֙ אֶהְיֶ֤ה לָהֶם֙ לֵֽאלֹקִ֔ים נְאֻ֖ם אדושם ה'׃ {פ}
(11) so that the House of Israel may never again stray from Me and defile itself with all its transgressions. Then they shall be My people and I will be their God—declares the Sovereign GOD.
(28) Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your ancestors, and you shall be My people and I will be your God.
(23) Nor shall they ever again defile themselves by their fetishes and their abhorrent things, and by their other transgressions. I will save them in all their settlements where they sinned, and I will purify them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God. (24) My servant David shall be king over them; there shall be one shepherd for all of them. They shall follow My rules and faithfully obey My laws. (25) Thus they shall remain in the land that I gave to My servant Jacob and in which your ancestors dwelt; they and their children and their children’s children shall dwell there forever, with My servant David as their prince for all time. (26) I will make a covenant of friendship with them—it shall be an everlasting covenant with them—I will establishbestablish Meaning of Heb. uncertain. them and multiply them, and I will place My Sanctuary among them forever. (27) My PresencecPresence Lit. “dwelling place.” shall rest over them; I will be their God and they shall be My people.
