Solidarity and social responsibility
Shabbat Shekalim 5785/2025. In a Jewish world post Oct. 7 2023 and all that followed, what do we as a community hold to be the minimum requirement of solidarity, as we define "belonging"?
From the reading for Shabbat T'rumah:

Tell the Israelite people to bring Me gifts; you shall accept gifts for Me from every person whose heart is so moved.

From the reading for Shabbat Shekalim:

the rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than half a shekel when giving GOD’s offering as expiation for your persons.
