Writing Warm-Ups
Using the above text as inspiration, spend 30 seconds - 1 minute on each of the following prompts. Do not worry about how much you write -- the goal is to get your pen moving and ideas flowing.
1) This quote repeats the word “tov – good” three times. Make a list of good sounds in your life.
2) Describe (at least) two feelings you have after a good dream.
3) Jot down a draft recipe for compassion

Rabbi Ḥanan said: There are three items seen in dreams that are indications of peace: A river, a bird and a pot. [Upon awaking, a person should rise and say the following blessing for a river]: A river, as it is written: “I will extend peace to her like a river” (Isaiah 66:12).
Reflection Questions
1) Why do think these are the three things that (when seen in a dream) indicate peace?
2) What is the connection between these three objects? How are they similar? How are they different? How would you engage with each?
3) What lines or phrases stand out? What questions do you have?

Writing Prompts
1) Imagine a place you love. Imagine it in the year 2200, in a time in which we have confronted the climate crisis and done much to heal our world. Life is thriving. Write from the perspective of the peaceful river – or the peaceful bird – or the peace-filled pot. Write about what you witnessed humans doing that helped bring about this more whole, more peaceful, more just world?
2) Imagine you are by a river, or witnessing the bird, or holding a pot. You rise early and recite a blessing for it. What is the blessing? Write a blessing for the river, the bird, or the pot that is thriving in a flourishing world.
