Other: Promised to a man [ἐπηγγελμένη ἀνδρί] [epēggelmenē andri]
Rudolph Anger (De Onkelo etc.): Regarding the words betrothed to a man [[נֶחֱרֶפֶת לְאִישׁ]], the Jerusalem Talmud (Kiddushin I, 1, fol. 59a) [J. T. K. 1:1:27] records: "Aquila the proselyte interpreted before Rabbi Akiba—as one crushed before a man [[בִּכְתוּשָׁה לפני איש]]." Thus, Aquila appears to have considered the word betrothed [[נֶחֱרֶפֶת]] cognate with a term meaning [חרף] "to crush" or "to strike," or perhaps he confounded it with the rare root [[רוף]], from which the post-biblical term eye-wink [[הרף]] originates. [most famous in the idiom for a moment [[הֶרֶף עַיִן]; hereph ayin; iterally "a winking of an eye."] It seems that by these words is denoted a woman "compressed" by some man (in this context, by a master). If Aquila translated word-for-word here, he probably employed the verb to cut [κόπτειν] [koptein]—which he also uses to translate to crush [[כתש]] in Prov. 27:22—and thus wrote crushed for a man [κεκομμένην ἀνδρὶ] [kekomennēn andri]. While this is an exceedingly obscure rendering, it is not without precedent among his other interpretations where the words are pressed; however, it must be understood that the specific logic he followed cannot be defined with absolute certainty. This reading reflects an exegetical narrator rather than a simple translator; indeed, another passage of the Gemara attributes this interpretation to Eleazar, son of Simeon.

Other: And peeled [καὶ λεπιστά] [kai lepista]
Codex 130: Regarding parched [πεφρυγμένα] [pephrygmena]: "The Rest: unsalted [ἄναλα] [anala] (as written)."
Codex 85: In the margin regarding groats [χίδρα] [chidra], without name: "unsalted [ἄναλα] [anala]," for which Montfaucon suggests the pseudo-Greek dried [αὔαλα] [auala], so that it may refer to roasted grain [[קָלִי]].
Codex 58: Without doubt, this should be rewritten as tender [ἁπαλά] [hapala], which Codex 58 has in the margin regarding groats [χίδρα] [chidra]. It appears evident from the present passage that the reading of Aquila and Symmachus, tender [ἁπαλά] [hapala], should be applied to the fresh fruit [[כַּרְמֶל]] rather than to crushed grain [[גֶּרֶשׁ]] (cf. Chapter 2:14).
Codd. X, Lips.: Regarding parched groats [πεφρ. χίδρα], they offer: "The Rest: tender and husked [ἁπαλά καὶ λεπιστά] [hapala kai lepista]," which is a double version of the same word, fresh fruit [[כַּרְמֶל]]. Indeed, the Samaritan interpreter in both places used husked [[קָלוּף]] for fresh fruit [[כַּרְמֶל]], rendered as husked [λεπιστόν] [lepiston].
Syr./Targ.: Regarding the interpretation of fresh fruit [[כַּרְמֶל]] as "crushed/rubbed," the Syriac [Syrus] and Chaldean [Chaldaeus] can be cited, who translate the term as rubbed/crushed [[ܦܪܝܟܢ]] and [[פִּירוּכָן]].
