From Sefaria’s inception, we have been dedicated to using the best
available technologies to expand access to Jewish texts.
Now, we are excited to offer a new way for you to discover, verify, and
explore Jewish sources: the Sefaria Library Assistant.
Through an extensive design and testing process, this tool leverages
the latest LLM models and was built with the unique guardrails and
sensitivities that our sacred texts deserve.
The Library Assistant uses Sefaria data to respond to your chat prompts
with textually grounded responses to Torah-related questions — always
cited, always linked.

You can use the Library Assistant to:
  • Locate sources that address your questions
  • Explore related texts and topics for deeper learning
  • Access ad-hoc translations of not-yet-translated works in the
  • Library
Whether you’re looking for a book you just can’t name or seeking
inspiration for deeper learning on a topic that interests you, the Library
Assistant will, true to its name, assist you in utilizing the resources
available on Sefaria.
The goal? Not to supply easy answers, simulate rabbinic authority, or
replace proper spiritual guidance. Rather, the Library Assistant invites
the kind of learning that Jewish tradition values: direct engagement
with text, wrestling with questions, and probing multiple viewpoints.
To get started using the Library Assistant:
Simply log in or register for a free Sefaria account. Once you log in, the
Library Assistant will appear on the right side of your screen anytime
you’re logged in on a computer web browser.
(Note: the Library Assistant is not yet available in the Sefaria Library
App or on mobile web browsers.)
