Psalm 24
There is a Moroccan Sephardic Custom to have a prosperous member of the community open the Holy Ark on Erev Rosh Hashanah while this Psalm is chanted. Known as "Petichah Shel Parnassah," it invites the flow of abudance (Shefa) into our lives for the coming hear. In my community, my husband chants the Hebrew with a Sephardic melody while I simultanously declaim it in English. I have combined some of the available translations and made the English more gender neutral.

(1) Of David. A psalm.

The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all that dwell therein.
(2) For God has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
(3) Who shall ascend the mountain of Adonai?
Who shall stand in God's holy place?—

(4) One with clean hands, and a pure heart; Who has not taken My name in vain, and has not sworn deceitfully.

(5) They shall receive blessing from Adonai,
and tzedakah from the God of their salvation

(6) Such is the generation of those who turn to God like Jacob seeking Your presence. Selah.
(7) Lift up your heads, oh you gates!
Be lifted up, you everlasting doors,
so the Sovereign of glory may come in!

(8) Who is the Sovereign of glory?—
Adonai, mighty and valiant,
Adonai, strong in battle,

(9) Lift up your heards oh you gates
Be lifted up, you everlasting doors,
so the Sovereign of glory may come in!

(10) Who is the Sovereign of glory?—
Adonai of the hosts,
God is the Sovereign of glory! Selah.
