(1) When God began to create heaven and earth—

Creation took place for the sake of Torah and for the sake of Israel. Its purpose was that the Holy One would be revealed to Israel, that we come to know of His existence. Even though His true nature lies beyond our grasp, once we recognize that the Holy One exists, we will do everything for His sake, fulfilling the verse, know him in all your ways.(Prof. 3:6) and becoming united with Him. There is no other, and there is nothing without Him. There is no place devoid of Him. As the verse says, "The whole earth is filled with His glory” (Isa. 6:3).

Divine glory, however, is a designation for His garments. The whole earth is filled with Holy garments. This aspect of divinity is called Adon’ai, related to the words for “sockets” by which the tabernacle was held together. This is the Holy One’s presence as it comes down into the lower and corporeal rungs. Our task is to unite it with the source from which it came, with the Holy One (Y-H-V-H), who calls all the worlds into being.

In all our deeds, be they study or prayer, eating or drinking, this union takes place. All the worlds depend on this, the union of God within, Adonai, and with God beyond, Hashem/YHVH.

God created the world through Torah Meaning the 22 letters. Chochma is the primal source of those letters, just as pre-existing materials are required for any creative act, which is to say all deeds derive from the original matter, so creation itself emerges from wisdom. [Chochma/Wisdom is represented by the letter Yod.]…

All things were within wisdom and from it emerged from potential into real existence. Even though the aleph is the first of the letters, and thus one might expect that it should be used to designate the first of all substances, aleph itself is constructed of two yods with a diagonal vav between them. The first Yud refers to the primal Chochma, the prime matter in which all the words were, worlds were included. The Vav, shaped like an elongated Yud, represents a drawing forth and descent of awareness, the actualization of the potential. Thus were all the worlds created. Finally forming the second Yud called the lower Chochma or the wisdom of Solomon.

And a slanderer alienates his friend (aluf).

(1)and a slanderer...And through his grumbling, he alienates the (Aluf) Friend of the world from himself.

This is the aspect of Adonai, divinity as descended below, garbed in all things alluded to in the verse, The whole earth filled with his glory. …By means of awareness you fulfill the verse know him in all your ways. This knowing or Daat or awareness is an unitive Force it joins together the lower Yud and the upper Yud, the primal point. Then the entire universe forms one single Alef Yud above, Yud below and Vav between them. That is why God is called the Cosmic Alef.
